The sounds of Joburg...

What do we listen to on the radio you might be thinking.. or not! :-)
Well, here is a overview from the most popular tracks on 94.7 Highveld Stereo ~ Johannesburg's number 1 hit radio station. Ryan Seacrest is even on our radio daily! See the link here with Top 8@8. He is on the air every Monday to Friday from 7pm to 10pm, only on 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Joburg’s number 1 Hit music station, and 94.5 KFM, the Cape’s number 1 Hit music station. This fast-paced programme combines the hottest music with Ryan’s exclusive access to bring listeners inside Hollywood and behind the curtain. This guy dabbles in every business it seems... you see and hear him everywhere!!

Good for him... he came a long way from this chubby kid to a high earned celeb he is today... See the many faces of RS here.

But now back to our top 10! If you click on the title you can hear the song... check it out and tell me which ones you like, hate or otherwise... Do you think our radio stations are cool, boring or fun to listen to??

Share some of your favorite songs of the moment, I like to know what is popular in YOUR country??

Its old, but still get in a good mood, when I hear Mungo Jerry's
In the summertime when the weather is hot
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather's fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
...Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

and....Bobby McFerrin's
Don't worry be happy
in every life we have some trouble
but when you worry you make it double
don't worry be happy don't worry be happy now

I've just discovered the music of James Grace, a young South African guitarists. In fact, I'm off to the shops now to go and find some of his cd's. Love his music!

I also find the Putumayo World Music cd's great. It introduces one to the music of other countries, one cd at a time.

Love my Isreal one...

As for classical - Joyce di Donato is just one of the amazing soprano's in the world. Based in the States but she performs all over the world. Her cd 'Pasion!' is a favourite.

These are indeed oldies Ginster, but good!
Emilene - James Grace is indeed a great gitarist! And I totally LOVE the Puttumayo CD's as well... I have at least 7 or 8, if not more!

I am cracking up at that old school photo of Ryan Seacrest. He looks like my mother! LOL!

Let's see...the radio is broken in my car, so I can't listen to anything there. So, the only music I really listen to now are Latin American and African songs from Zumba class!
