Parade of Nations at AISJ ~ part 1

So the day after the food festival we had the Parade of Nations. Each child can walk in their national costume behind the flag of their country while all the parents, friends and family can come and join to see! As usual it was a hot and sunny day! This year we kept it a bit shorter and the countries walked faster behind each other, since last year we were all so hot and dehydrated by being 2 hours in the full sun!

This is a such a fantastic day of the year, and everybody is so proud to come and dress up in their beautiful, colorful and amazingly stunning outfits!!

Since we have 72 countries that were participating and represented at our school it is great to see those kids walk hand in hand coming from all over the world, being best friends and not caring if you come from a different country, eat different foods, talk a a different language or have a total different religion and customs at home. No they are friends beyond borders!!

It makes me so proud to see all the kids and parents dress up for this really special day! It's like a mini UNITED NATIONS! If we could just take an example of how well everybody gets along and copy this to the rest of the world, there wouldn't be any wars and genocide killings. Unfortunately this is an utopia! Nevertheless I hope by attending an International School like this that at least this generation will be a great example of how it can work! If you just put your prejudice aside and work and live together!!

All these people work for International companies, who have offices/warehouses/business in SA. Like cell phone companies, Car companies, Computer Companies, Construction and Oil companies and mostly their top level positions are the expats - mostly our husbands...

Really lovely! Reminds me of the Parade of Nations before each Olympics.

Your daughters are gorgeous (but you already knew that).
